Meeting Boiler MACT If you have boilers larger than 10 MMBtu/hr you probably already know that its CO levels will have to be monitored to ensure safe operating levels for the EPA's Boiler MACT Regulations. Depending on the size of your boiler different monitoring techniques will be required. Boilers between 10 and 100 MMBtu/hr will require an energy assessment and an annual perforamnce test. Boilers larger than 100 MMBtu/hr will have their CO levels continuously monitored on a running 30 day average.
The following link provides prodcut literature for Altech Environments MIR9000 CEMS. The MIR 9000 will provide all neccesary monitoring and reporting capabilities to make sure your boiler is MACT compliant. Associated benefits with these units are the ability to fine tune boiler operations and potential capacity for opacity monitoring. | Increasing Boiler Efficiency Meeting optimal boiler operating efficiencies can be difficult, especially if you aren't analyzing your exhaust gases. Having the ability to monitor the levels of CO and oxygen in your exhaust gases will greatly enhance the opportunity for your boiler operators to tune your boiler for optimum performance. This will inherently reduce operating costs by increasing your boiler's combustion efficiency. Below is link that will bring up Altech Environment USA's MIR-IS close coupled analyzer brochure. The MIR-IS uses infra-red technology to measure up to five gases through a single port opening. Applications for which the MIR-IS is currently in use for include: process monitoring, scrubber efficiency, SCR control, coal fired utilities, petrochemical, incinerators, turbines, cement kilns, regulatory emissions monitoring.
